Founded in 1701, Marsh's Library has remained unchanged for three centuries. The Queen Anne building, with its original oak bookcases, houses more than 25,000 rare and interesting books.

The library is open to the public and children are particularly welcome. Scholars may consult our holdings by arrangement.

Marsh's Library is located just behind St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

Marsh’s Library is located on St Patrick’s Close,  just behind St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. Most Dublin tours pass right by our door, or we’re only a 10 or 15 minute stroll from Grafton Street. Just ask for directions to St Patrick’s Cathedral.

Opening Hours

Weekdays except Tuesday: 9:30am to 5pm. Saturdays: 10am to 5pm

Entrance Charges

Visitors are asked to pay an entrance fee of €3, with €2 for students and senior citizens, and no charge for children.
