The Maritime & Heritage Centre in Killybegs, Co Donegal, is in the original setting of the world famous hand-knotted Donegal Carpets, which grace the floors of Aras an Uachtarain, The White House, The Vatican, Dublin Castle, Buckingham Palace and many Irish Embassies worldwide.   Visitors can enjoy an audio visual experience of the making of the Donegal Carpets also an audio visual giving a fascinating insight into the fishing industry and listen to the Killybegs fishermen experiences of life in bygone days, followed by a guided tour of the Centre, and enjoy a hands-on demonstration by one of our qualified hand knotters, we also have the largest hand-knotting loom in the world on display. 
Visitors can skipper their own boat on our new ship simulator, the only one of its kind in Ireland where the public can experience the thrills of the ocean without getting your feet wet, learn the maritime skills needed to steer a ship into Killybegs harbour (choose from 6 exciting scenarios) Great fun all the family. There is a coffee shop on the premises and visitors can enjoy local crafts on display.
